About Dr Richard Baker Plastic Surgeon

Dr Baker qualified as a Doctor in 2000 after completing his medical studies at Cambridge University. He began his training in plastic surgery in 2003 studying in some of London’s most prestigious units including the Chelsea and Westminster, Mount Vernon, the Royal Free, Queen Victoria and St Andrews in Chelmsford and was awarded his fellowship in plastic surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons in 2012. Dr Baker continued his training with advanced fellowships in Reconstructive Cosmetic Surgery and Hand and Wrist Surgery culminating in the European Diploma of Hand Surgery (2014). He was admitted to the specialist register in plastic surgery in 2016.

Dr Baker was appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in August 2015 at Wexham Park Hospital, Berkshire in the UK. He was  the Clinical Lead of the department until he left to joint Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi  In October 2023. 
During his training Mr Baker undertook a research degree investigating ways to reduce scarring of the skin. He also visited leading international units such as E’Da Hospital in Taiwan, the Kleinert Institute in Louisville and Santander in Spain.
Dr Baker has published numerous articles on plastic surgery including books and book chapters. He continues to teach trainee plastic surgeons and is committed to delivering a modern, evidence based and patient centred practice.
During his free time, Dr Baker enjoys walking his dogs with his wife and children, keeping fit, racquet sports, reading and amateur artwork.
